The Analytics Cloud Keynote — “Win With Wave” — was an excellent Dreamforce session.
I walked away with a better understanding of the Salesforce Wave Analytics product. What I learned is that Wave does appear to be a very good BI tool, giving sales leaders and managers business intelligence and insights into what is happening in the sales pipeline to improve sales forecasting. This was their claim in the session and supported by their references from HMH, ASPCA and Verizon.
It’s more of a current state, as well as a rearview look, at what has occurred and allows you to drill down on that information, and you can derive the steps and actions that you should take to determine your own outcome. There is no notion of predictive analytics, nor do they espouse or make any claims that it does feature predictive qualities.
They did a demo from the Apple Watch for a Pinot Noir wine and then switched over to the iPad to drill down further into the details as to the average price of the wine, and what had occurred previously.
